El Salvador is a small Central American nation. It's known for its Pacific Ocean beaches, surf spots and mountainous landscape. Its Ruta de Las Flores is a winding route past coffee farms, rainforests with waterfalls and towns like Juayúa, with its weekend food festival, plus Ataco, home to vivid murals. The capital, San Salvador, with a dramatic backdrop of volcanoes, has numerous museums and the National Theater.

Tazumal is a pre-Columbian Maya archeological site in Chalchuapa, El Salvador. Tazumal is an architectural complex within the larger area of the ancient Mesoamerican city of Chalchuapa, in western El Salvador.

The San Salvador Volcano is a strato volcano situated northwest to the city of San Salvador. The crater has been nearly filled with a relatively newer edifice, the Boquerón volcano.

Lake Ilopango is a crater lake which fills a scenic 8 by 11 km volcanic caldera in central El Salvador, on the borders of the San Salvador, La Paz, and Cuscatlán departments.

Joya de Cerén is an archaeological site in La Libertad Department, El Salvador, featuring a pre-Columbian Maya farming village preserved remarkably intact under layers of volcanic ash. It is often referred to as the "Pompeii of the Americas", in comparison to the famed Ancient Roman ruins.
